First Holy Communion is May 2nd!!

The second grade students are getting ready for their First Holy Communion, which takes place the first weekend in May. We have spent the last few months in preparation of this very special sacrament. Second grade has been learning how to: care for all people in God's Kingdom, share the Good News with God's People, and pray as Jesus did. The students have been learning what the Mass really is and how to gather for Mass, listen to God's Word and why we call the Mass a sacrafice. Together, we will share a Holy Meal and Go Forth with peace in our hearts to spread the Good News. Please join us in our Sacrament of First Holy Communion on Sunday, May 2nd.

Dear Parents,

Our class finished studying Mammals last quarter. The students will be learning how to take notes and how to put a report together during the third quarter. Each student has been given a mammal of their choice. They are required to write a report on that particular animal, following the steps that s/he will learn in class. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS REPORT WILL BE COMPLETED IN AND DURING CLASS TIME (unless otherwise instructed). An outline of these steps has been attached to this letter. Also included is the rubric on which the students will be graded. Reports must be handed in by the due date, Thursday, March 25, 2010.

As a follow up activity on mammals, we will be having Mammal Pet Day on Thursday, April 29. We will meet on the field next to the playground equipment at 1:30 PM. The students will have a chance to gather and talk with each other about their pet. Afterwards, we have arranged for your pet to be blessed by Msgr. Servatius. The activity should last no longer than an hour. If you would like to bring in your child’s pet, please sign your name below and what type of animal you will be bringing.
